Although he trained as a broadcast journalist Angus Coull has helped a variety of New Zealand organisations maximise their profile through implementing his successful, high impact Public Relations strategies. Formerly with Empire PR, Angus has set up an exciting new company called Tell The World.

- What inspired you to start up your business?
Angus Coull
- The rude awakening that comes with redundancy - as well a desire to be a free spirit and indulge my creative side on my own terms working with like-minded individuals and organisations.

- Who has influenced you the most professionally?
AG
- Individuals who take on mighty tasks and who are driven and determined to achieve a goal that’s not about personal financial gain. People like Julie Helson at KidsCan who works tirelessly to help create a better life for disadvantaged young Kiwi kids. Anyone who is passionate about something.

- How would you describe yourself as a businessman?
AG
- Easy to deal with. Low key whilst delivering high impact results. I like to engage on a humour level with clients – if it’s not going to be fun there’s no point in doing it.

- What do you consider your greatest achievement?
AG
- Setting up (along with a couple of mates) a Fringe Festival in the Czech capital, Prague. As a TV producer bringing attention back to a forgotten Scottish fashion icon and in PR for helping spread the word about child slavery in NZ chocolate on behalf of Trade Aid.

- With hindsight, what is the one thing you would do differently?
AG
- I was given a chance to be a travel writer a few years back, I didn’t follow it through. That would have been a very nice life – ah well - c’est la vie!
A song by M People has a great line in it – “What have you done today to make yourself proud” – I think more business people would do well to listen to that –and I’d like to sing that in my head more often too.

- Who do you find inspirational and why?
AG
- Richard Branson – a guy with global and universe-wide goals but who remains a cool down to earth extraordinary ordinary guy. Also the creative team behind AIR NZ’s quirky grabaseat promotions – I even emailed them to tell them I love their work – anyone who can make me laugh out loud at a marketing email deserves recognition. And people who work all day then build their dreams in their garages at night.

- What is the most inspirational book you have read recently?
AG
- Just started to read The 50th Law by Robert Greene and rapper 50 Cent. Although the early days of a former drug dealer shouldn’t be an inspiration – the book is about overcoming your fears and going your own way and making your own decent way in business.

- What is your favourite website and why?
AG
- BBC, it’s the anywhere in the world online arm of the most trustworthy news and entertainment organisation in the world. The site is thorough with links galore.

-What is the first thing you would do if you became Prime Minister?
AG
- Nationalise TVNZ again and make it ad-free – oh what a joy that would be! Oh – and speed up the process to make NZ a Fair Trade Nation and cut the crap with real high speed broadband for everyone.

- What is the best thing about being in business?
AG
- Being kept on your toes - with the constant reminder that if you don’t keep making things happen – you’ll go under. And the possibility that as well as making a reasonable living – you one day could actually do something you’re proud of. In PR that means helping organisations you believe in get their important messages across. In helping Trade Aid get on TV and in the papers - farmers living in poverty in third world countries have a better chance in life – and helping an organisation try to stamp out child slavery in Africa is a nice way to do business.
