An Auckland-based company which rarely advertises has won the inaugural Dulux Master Painter of the Year award.

Wall Treats also won the Residential Rework Interior category and took out the Best Member Website with its online presence at www.walltreats.co.nz. It also provides expert on-site assistance to DIY painters through its Wall Tales division.

Operations Manager Ashley Wong said she and co-owner Daniel Zapata were “elated and humbled” by the award wins. The company was based on client recommendations.

“Almost all of our business is generated via word of mouth referrals,” she said. “We really appreciate a potential client who is introduced to us by someone they know and trust.”

Master Painters New Zealand Chief Executive Brian Miller said award judges described Wall Treats’ work as “the highest quality, showing particular attention to detail in all areas”.  

“This small business presents both itself and the association very well by being meticulous in all areas from documentation to finished work.”

“By having more than one entry up for judging it showed that this contractor had consistent standards of the highest order. They have laid down a challenge for others to follow,” the judges said.
