By modernising its services, keeping compliance costs low and providing innovative online business support, the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) has won the Vero Excellence in Business Support Award for a Government Department.

A world leading learning centre for owner managers and entrepreneurs, The ICEHOUSE, won the 2009 Vero Excellence in Business Support education provider award. Its CEO Andy Hamilton also won in the individual category this year.

A company that developed a low-cost carbon accredition programme  won the High Growth sector of the Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards. Since launching its carboNZero programme Landcare Research has contributed to the mitigation of around 91,115 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and increased revenue by over 200%.

Now in their fourth year, the Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards are designed to recognise organisations and individuals that provide quality support to businesses. More than 100 organisations and individuals entered the 2008 awards with 43 finalists selected in 11 categories by The New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation which provided an independent and robust evaluation process for the awards.
