Promotional TXT comes of age
Monday, 01 October 2007

Activetxting is a product developed by a New Zealand company, User Tronic Developments Ltd.

The concept uses mobile phones txt capabilities for registering and receiving promotional offers. There is no database maintenance required by the retailer. The customers subscribe and unsubscribe themselves using their mobile phones. The retailer places a banner inside their premises which can be any size. An example follows:

“Would you like to be notified of special deals by txt” Just txt “xyz” to 021 xxx xxx

When a shopper enters the premises and sees the banner and decides to register for the promotional offers, they use their mobile phone and txt your assigned “xyz” code to the 021 number.

After the shopper has sent the txt message they will receive a welcome txt message and instructions on how to unsubscribe.

The cost to the shopper to subscribe is their normal txt charge from their service provider.

Before the retailer can send promotional messages from their phone they must register for the service. This involves registering the mobile phone number that they will use, to send txt messages and a password.

Also required are the signup registration code and the welcome txt message.

Now the retailer can send a promotional offer anytime by using the registered mobile phone.

To send a promotional txt message, the retailer enters the password followed by the txt message. A confirmation txt message is sent back displaying the number of subscribers the message was relayed to.

There are several pricing plans available. You can even set a minimum monthly budget of $15.00 plus GST. A report of how many new subscribers, total subscribers, numbers of messages sent and the number of subscribers who have un-subscribed is produced every month.

Some examples of uses:

Restaurants can send promotional deals when they have a quite period and wish to fill tables.

Organisers of clubs can send informational messages to all their club members ie game cancellations.

Businesses who wish to send new product information.

Taverns can send a happy hour message.
