Not many stadiums in New Zealand have as an impressive resume as The Trusts Stadium in Waitakere City.

The Stadium is a multi-purpose event and entertainment facility which hosts a broad range of events including conventions, trade shows, music concerts and local, national and international sporting events.

The Stadium was developed by the Waitakere City Stadium Trust in partnership with Waitakere City Council and The Trusts, and aims to be a place for the community to gather and enjoy a wide range of cultural, community, sporting and corporate events.

Simon Wickham of the Stadium told Business to Business, “We were delighted to hear that we had won and there’s even more spring in our team’s step as a result. It was a great endorsement from the business community of the vision of our trustees and investors for an iconic facility in Waitakere having taken some bold steps to make that vision a reality through securing some amazing events including the World Netball Champs.”

“I am so proud of the team of great people we have that go the extra mile for our clients and visitors and it was great that many of our investors were in the audience to share this award.

“We’re confident this award will enhance our profile and help us secure more events, concerts, business meetings and conferences in our award winning venues.”

Playing host to the World Netball Championships, World Junior Badminton Championships, Commonwealth Judo Championship, Oceania K-1 Kickboxing events, Tall Blacks and Silver Fern matches to name a few, definitely speaks volumes about the stadium’s reputation at hosting big events.

Not limited to sporting events, the Trusts Stadium caters for community and cultural events. It has seen the likes of Trash to Fashion Awards, Waitakere Sporting Awards and of course the BNZ Waitakere Business Awards.

If this was not enough to keep the stadium busy in 2005, it won the right to host the largest corporate event on New Zealand’s calender – the Schick Quattro Fight For Life.

The Waitakere Trusts Stadium has fast become a community icon.
