    Cutting corners in the rush to finish orders for Christmas could result in injury — so take it easy, says Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) service manager in Auckland, John Forrest.“Christmas is a difficult period for us — there is a huge increase in injuries as safety goes out the window.   • MIT opens machinery maintenance centre
    Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) has opened a Maintenance and Reliability Centre, offering short courses to train staff to repair and diagnose machine faults, as well as ensure the overall reliability of machinery. When trained staff are available to find faults and fix them, the downtime for machinery or a production line is reduced, which increases overall productivity, says Institute business manager, Sarah Santry.
