Fisher & Paykel lands ‘big catch’ at industry design awards

Three Fisher & Paykel kitchen appliances have placed in the highly competitive consumer category at the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Awards.

A designer with a lead role on all three product projects, Fisher & Paykel Head of Industrial Design Mark Elmore, was presented with the esteemed John Britten Black Pin for Outstanding Achievement in his field.

Stuart Broadhurst, Fisher & Paykel Appliances managing director, said Fisher & Paykel was about creating appliances for people – products that make life easier and better.

“Mark’s design leadership has helped make that vision a reality time and again, with the resulting products having an incredible influence on everyday life in homes around the globe.”

Mark and his team have been responsible for such appliance shifts as the DishDrawer, a product that built the platform to take Fisher & Paykel to world markets and led to a step change in kitchen design internationally.

The Designer Oven (90cm) was awarded a Gold Pin, while the matching Designer Cooktop range and the DishDrawerTM Wide also received Silver awards.

Fisher & Paykel’s ‘Social Kitchen’ installation by Grey Lynn design agency Alt Group was also recognised with the supreme award in the graphic category, the Purple Pin.
